Day Camp Junior Staff Volunteers

One of the highlights of the Cub Scout calendar is Day Camp, and the George Strake District is looking for volunteers! This year Day Camp will be June 2 - 4, from 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM. There will be a a training on May 17th from 2pm to 4pm, and a work day on Monday, June 1st from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Every rank except Scout requires scouts to complete a certain number of service hours. You may be asking, "How do I get credit for service so that I can use it for a rank advancement?"

Multisport Merit Badge Opportunity

Scouts -

In 2025, the Multisport Merit Badge was added to the list of merit badges available to you and I am happy to announce that Mrs. Galassini and I will be counseling this merit badge in the coming months.

What is Multisport?

Glad you asked. While most people think of it as triathlon (swimming, biking, running), there are variations that involve any combination of those events. As part of the merit badge, you will decide which activities you wish to participate in and we will train for those events. The requirements can be found here: https://www.scouting.org/merit-badges/multisport/

IMPORTANT NOTES:

If you choose swimming as an activity, you MUST have already completed the Swimming merit badge.

If you choose biking, you MUST have access to a bike and a helmet.

If you participate at all, you MUST have a current Medical Form

What's the plan?

We will hold classroom sessions on March 23 and March 30 during the regular troop meeting times. You will establish a 4-week training plan and then complete your chosen disciplines. I hope to have a couple of guest speakers as well.
